Huh but also remember that Neurodivergent People Exist. Some folks (and perhaps not necessarily just neurodivergent folks) have interoceptive abilities (for want of a better word) and their bodies may not 'know' if they have been eating 'too much' or not enough.
we really can’t overstate how damaging it has been to indoctrinate the public with the idea that if they let themselves eat as much as they want, they’ll eat too much. human bodies, when permitted over the long term to eat as much as they want, actually get really, really good at calibrating their hunger and satiety, and will over time eat exactly the right amount for themselves. the common conception of a balanced eater as a minimal or restrained eater is absolutely wrong. balanced eaters eat quite a lot (compared to diet cultural ideas about right intake amounts), and they do so consistently and permanently. healthy, balanced eating isn’t some tightrope walk, it’s a gigantic net of total permission to eat.

The Erosion of Extended Family Ties - What to Expect Next
Another vital factor contributing to the weakening of family ties is the diminishing presence of extended family relationships. This shift is driven by decreasing birth rates, increased migration, and the growing demands on people’s time. As families scatter across the world, maintaining close bonds with relatives such as cousins, aunts, and uncles has become notably challenging. Migration for…

Yes we founded this hobby in late victorian europe where we divide animals of the same species from around the globe into races and measure them with calipers and put extreme emphasis on blood purity and conformity but WE SWEAR this has zero links to the eugenics movement that was coincidentally happening at the exact same time and place

Alternate timeline where she didn't meet Steven. I may be exaggerating lmao
Yapping under the cut because I'm waiting on a line rn
Okey, so. Entertaining the thought: An introverted feral kid and a girl who gets a sort of high off adrenaline; but was taught to be polite and proper. You know, all that perfect girl stuff. We would also consider how her empathy level is questionable, based on how she just casually suggested cutting off his arm when it got stuck. (Still not sure if immediately being excited seeing swords is just amazement or 'OOH How convenient!') So perhaps she would learn to understand empathy in a practical (not sure if that's the word I'm looking for) way rather than in an emotional way.
Thankfully she was coaxed out of her shell and she had outlet early on. Also, to have genuinely learned friendship power! 😊
But what if she never got that outlet. 🤔 I mean, she could have gotten out of her shell in a different way. But, like. Imagine if she had to bottle it up all these years. It could go south or she'll be able to manage it because it ain't as bad. Just fun to think about the former.
She would be like: This thing I'm reading is SO morbidly interesting! I wonder what it feels like in a personal level though? Could I do it? Could I do it better now that I have the knowledge of foresight? But what if I still mess up? I can't have a negative record! And the curiosity and the adrenaline just mixes up together. Lol
Haha I'm not really seriously headcanoning that is exactly what's gonna happen. I mean at least not to an intense extent. It's so fun to think about.
#It isn't even as effective as what people made it out to be so she was going to dispose of it anyway. 😒#This poor girl is freezing up cause she got caught#Maybe if she pleads enough they won't tell anyone. They CAN'T tell anyone right?#So I guess she needs to amp up being socially nice to make them dismiss any negative correlation towards her from this. ┐(´ー`)┌#I think her parents are the ones talking to her here though so that may be not as hard.(?)#Connie Maheswaran#Steven Universe#Crack AU#Steven Universe AU#my shiz#If it's prime Connie you wouldn't know she has a barrel of acid. Probably.#And if you did she'll stare you down and confidentally say. Yes that's my a barrel of acid.#But like. You have no concrete proof she has a barrel of acid#SU AU#We get so much Steven POV. Or other POV's for that matter. Sadie has more screentime but that's understandable#Despite her role in the series this girl is a mystery to us and we can only fill up the gaps through analyzing clues and implications#It's amusing to think about Steven encouraging her to not be shy. She's so (⸝⸝⸝U u U⸝⸝⸝! But it. like#bursts out in his face because she's so enthusiastic and oh so ready to take on something#su#skedoobles#Man boredom makes you think of random things. 😑#I got so much other stuff to do and I'm stuck in a line. i'm so hungry I wish I brought sum snacks 😭#Oh. Right. I was practicing drawing hands clasping together and just drew Connie around it .#One image with dialogue text count as a comic yeah?#comics#my comics#SU comics

Actually there is something so choice about how the narrative around Jason’s death pre-ressurection spends so much time reassuring Bruce (and the audience) that Bruce has no culpability and that Jason was hopeless and even at times tries to convince us that actually Jason wasn’t even really his son so Bruce didn’t fail as a father, he did the best he could really. Bruce doesn’t owe him anything. This could be seen as an attempt to distort history in order cope with Jason’s death, but this narrative is never actually challenged, we’re meant to take it as truth. And then Jason comes back and drags Bruce by the ear and goes actually no bitch you do owe me something you owe me a death. Bruce doesn’t get to wash his hands of him. Jason forces the issue, he refuses to let Bruce walk away clean. Good, he shouldn’t <3

i will literally defend to the death women talking about getting an "ick" about male partners. yeah it’s kind of a dumb term but it serves its purpose. it’s my view that what’s talked about as "getting the ick" is actually looking back, rather than being looked at, often for the first time in a relationship. when you’re not caught up in the performance and charm of your relationship, when you’re a little disengaged, when you’re just looking at the guy. and you start to think … am i attracted to him? have i ever been attracted to him? and so yeah sometimes it’ll be tiny innocuous things. i don’t care if watching her boyfriend order dessert in a restaurant or carry a water bottle or eat messily or cry is the sudden tipping point when she takes a step back, really looks at the guy, and goes "what am i doing? i don’t even like him" like good for her for realizing and getting out. listen to your gut.

circling back to TB and vampires. tuberculosis was a romantic disease in the literary imagination -> the pale complexion afforded to its female victims was often viewed as enhancing their desirability and their erotic drives -> gabrielle explicitly fantasies about being sexually liberated and having multiple extramarital relations while she’s suffering from consumption -> since everything is about wuthering heights when you’re talking about gabrielle and lestat - catherine earnshaw succumbs to tuberculosis much like gabrielle herself -> deaths due to tuberculosis were also often attributed moral weight -> catherine and heathcliff developed incestuous feelings for one another and her death could’ve been viewed as judgement passed on her for her transgressive desires, as a woman, and due to the incestuous nature of her feelings -> lestat and gabrielle develop a dynamic of complete codependency in TVL that almost seems to necessitate that the wellbeing of one is ensured through the wellbeing of the other through a shared psychic bond -> lestat, unlike heathcliff, is able to rescue his beloved from the clutches of moral judgement but this is done by paradoxically killing his own beloved (“You said I killed you! Haunt me then!”) and solidifying their familial bond twice over by becoming her parent. he then proclaims that they’ll love each other even in hell (i.e. outside of socially prescribed norms of acceptable desire) while facilitating her sexual liberation.

the annoying thing about tumblr is you cant just reblog a post because you agree with the post you have to make sure you agree with the OP and all their secret intentions (which might be easy or hard to notice) that completely change the meaning of the post

this is a sensitive topic for me, so i really hate that i have to make this post, but unfortunately it keeps becoming relevant: stop infantilizing hera, and stop making excuses for it.
"well, she's literally four years old" she's been fully conscious with an adult mind for most of that, awake for most of that, and in multiple places at once for most of that. do you think that is comparable to a child's life experience, or is it maybe representative of something else?
i assume you understand why it would be wrong to call lovelace "literally two" because the fact that she is a clone is textually representative of the trauma she's been through. i also assume you understand why hera occasionally making flippant or frustrated comments about her own struggles living as an AI is different from the text telling you who she is or how you should regard her. it's science fiction, and it's a show that uses science fiction concepts in ways that resonate with real ones. the ultimate fact of the matter is that hera could've been in a lab for 30 years, or for 200 years, in a different setting, and be written the exact same way: as a sheltered, isolated adult woman without real life experiences.
hera is not a child or teenager in a natural stage of development. she is an adult who never went through the usual stages of development or life milestones, who has adult friendships and responsibilities, but who feels she is permanently ill-equipped to handle her life because no one ever taught her how, or gave her the space to make mistakes. if you don't understand why this distinction is important in discussing her trauma, that there are real, adult people who feel the same way, people who feel they've only been alive for four years, women who were never girls... then i really don't know what to say to you.
and i guess i have to say it: it's inherently infantilizing to say her peers see her the same way they see an actual child, or to say she needs them to be parental figures, especially eiffel of all people. "adult women have parents too" not ones that are 30 year old men! and parents have responsibilities to children, even adult children, that are different from the responsibilities two unrelated adults who care about each other have. it fundamentally reframes hera's most equal relationship in a way that diminishes her autonomy within it. (and if you're arguing it's all equal anyway, then what does it add? why don't you consider friendship as important?)
i know some people will dismiss that point because i view eiffel and hera romantically, but i've never argued you have to. if you want to go down that road, it says some pretty awful things about the couple of writers and actors who also view it romantically if you think she was meant to be viewed as a child, much less comparable to his child. you're inventing problems that don't canonically exist.
i just don't understand why you would make it about eiffel at all - and eiffel does not have the right to be a parent; the only thing that will heal his relationship with his real actual child is in relation to his real actual child - instead of discussing what a disabled, isolated, traumatized adult might be able to offer a disabled, traumatized kid. isn't the whole point of hera not being like pryce about breaking cycles? why make her a passive figure in her own story when her entire story arc is about taking control of her life?
there's no utility to this line of thought that doesn't further demean and alienate her, while implying she isn't ready to be a fully autonomous adult person. i don't think most people mean to be ableist, but hera is canonically a disabled woman, and i don't like where that line of thought leads. and yes, she's just a fictional character and can't be hurt by it, but everyone brings some real-world biases to how they engage with fiction. she's written as a marginalized adult person, and her womanhood is textually tied to defense of her personhood and autonomy (as well as a parallel to lovelace, also a marginalized woman.) to paraphrase minkowski - "you are going to show [that woman] some goddamned respect."
